Words from Our Community

Kaneisha Evans is compassionate, professional, and deeply committed to helping others. During our clinical internship, I observed her strong passion for supporting African American males and advocating for underserved populations. Her dedication, empathy, and ability to connect with others make her an invaluable asset to the behavioral health field.
— PhD/Qualified Professional
I had the privilege of providing clinical supervision to Kaneisha Evans, LCMHC, for a period of two years during her licensure process. Throughout that time, Kaneisha consistently demonstrated a high level of professionalism, clinical competence, ethical decision-making, and commitment to client care.

Using the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors’ supervision evaluation standards, Kaneisha earned ratings of “Exceeds Expectations” in most competency areas. She consistently displayed strong clinical judgment, excellent rapport-building skills, effective treatment planning, and a genuine dedication to helping her clients achieve meaningful growth and healing.

Kaneisha approaches her work with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to lifelong learning. She readily integrates feedback into her practice, demonstrates cultural humility, and effectively navigates complex clinical situations with professionalism and confidence. Her ability to establish therapeutic relationships while maintaining appropriate clinical boundaries is particularly noteworthy.

As a supervisee, Kaneisha was engaged, reflective, and proactive in her professional development. She consistently came to supervision prepared, thoughtfully examined her clinical work, and demonstrated a strong desire to provide the highest quality of care to those she serves.

I confidently recommend Kaneisha Evans, LCMHC, as a skilled and dedicated mental health professional.

She is an asset to the counseling profession and to the clients and communities she serves.

I first started seeing Kaneisha during a really down depressive period in my life. I was trying to get self-deprecating behaviors under control while also fighting for custody of my daughter. My mental health was low and I didn’t think anything would help at this point. I was my own worst enemy to be honest. After a few sessions of listening and giving feedback, she gave suggestions of things to implement into daily life to see if I could change my way of looking at and dealing with situations. It was slow going at first but I was determined to be happier and she was determined to help me achieve that. I worked on so many behaviors and some I didn’t even realize I had and how much they affected daily life. I stopped people pleasing and saying yes to everything. I realized that I had to put me first and saying yes to helping everyone else was me pouring from an empty cup. I stopped worrying about making others mad and started putting that energy into making myself happy. I was helped in realizing that happiness comes from within and others add to that happiness, not create it. I had a healthier attitude towards struggles in my life and ways to not only deal with them but to handle them on an emotionally mature level. My anger towards myself slowly started to fade and I realized that I was a good person who deserved to be happy. I stopped thinking I did not deserve good things to happen to me, I could finally look in the mirror and love the woman looking back at me. I knew that she worked hard in life to be where she was at and the things she had accomplished. I knew I deserved to be happy and content in life just like others. My past did not define me. My trauma did not define me. It was the woman who got up and tried her best every day that defined me. Kaneisha helped me understand all of this. She led me to my joy for life again. When she helped me understand why I felt the way I had, that led me to having the confidence to change the way I looked at things and to let go of doubts and insecurities. It was not an overnight change and it was a slow process; I had several stumbles along the way. She never gave up and always helped me process what was going on and how to work through the stumble. I could talk to her freely and knew I never had judgement from her. It really was my safe space. I had never had a therapist that was so genuine and actually cared about me as a real person and not just a case file that she glanced at once a week. I will always recommend her services to anyone who needs help. I know that I put in the hard work but she was the catalyst in saving my mental health. I looked forward to our sessions every week. It was almost like catching up with a friend who gave professional advice. I practice the tools I learned through therapy on a daily basis. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t utilize what I was taught. I did get sole custody of my daughter and she also struggles with mental health issues. I would not be the mother that I am if I had not had her as my therapist. I can understand and better communicate with my daughter’s mental health needs because of the tools I have now. I still love the woman in the mirror and I still know that no matter what, I deserve all the good in life that I worked for. Kaneisha helped with that. I carry that daily also. I became a better person, mother, friend, sister, and employee. Anyone in my life knows both versions of me has commented at least once that therapy with Kaneisha Evans literally changed and saved my life. It has made me a better me.

With Ms. Evans’s guidance, counseling, listening, and her ability to focus on what I wasn’t saying and getting me to finally cross that road of what was to now, what is “My life today.”
When in therapy with Ms. Evans, she gently guides me to what I need to be focused on. Her personality and humor is mesmerizing, to the point that she appears to be going through it with me. I enjoy our sessions, because I know that I’m able to express my feelings and thoughts without being judged by Ms. Evans. She truly helped me overcome some very hard and intense seasons and issues in my life. Issues from everything such as, pain management, bereavement, childhood traumas, relationship issues with male friends and family. When I lost my mother, Ms. Evans supported me throughout and offered me additional sessions if she had openings when I had some really challenging moments in grief. She provides me a safe space and encourages me to cry, be angry, shout, talk about my body pains and identify the causes of that pain.
I feel the need to just sum up Ms. Evans. She’s been a true blessing in my life. She’s young and knows her stuff. Her style of helping me heal was listening and exploring the way my brain processes. She helped me to realize all of the painful parts of my body. She’s helped me overcome and heal from 30+ years of a “No it’s Not a relationship.” situation.
She’s taken her personal time to research things concerning my medical conditions. She’s given me so much patience and I could feel her true concern for my life. Ms. Evans is cool, down to earth and there’s nothing I can’t share with her. In her own sweet gentle way she lets me know when I am stubborn and trying to do things my own way during our sessions and reminds me I have to do the work consistently and try new things when old ways no longer work. She’s funny but it works for my betterment, growth and healing. Ms. Evans is the absolute best counselor I’ve ever had and I’ve had plenty. I’m grateful to have her. MS. EVANS DOESN’T PLAY. SHE HEALS and SHE HELPS you overcome life issues. She’s graceful, she knows and loves the Lord, which is great, because she can match and go beyond my own understanding.

I had never participated in therapy before, but I decided to give it a try, and I am so grateful that I was connected with Kaneisha Evans. From our very first session, she made me feel comfortable, supported, and understood. She created a safe space where I felt able to open up and discuss things I had never talked about before. Through our work together, I experienced several personal breakthroughs and gained a better understanding of why I think, feel, and react the way I do. Kaneisha helped me recognize unhealthy patterns and provided me with tools to make positive changes in my life. One of the most valuable lessons she taught me was the importance of choosing myself and prioritizing my own well-being without feeling guilty.
She also helped me learn how to establish and maintain healthy boundaries, which has improved my relationships and increased my self-confidence. Her guidance, compassion, and professionalism have had a meaningful impact on my personal growth. I highly recommend Kaneisha Evans to anyone looking for a therapist who is supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping her clients succeed.

Kaneisha has helped me rediscover myself. At a time when I was at my lowest she helped me discover the issues I was dealing with and what I needed to work on. Without her guidance and advice I don’t know where I’d be. I truly appreciate her support and patience in allowing me to see and rediscover what I had once lost, and have now found and rediscovered. Thanks.

Kaneisha is phenomenal. As someone who’s been in therapy most of my life, I know the difference and she gets it right. She meets you where you are but won’t leave you there. She’s risen with me through all of it, even when I was the problem.

Kaneisha is absolutely phenomenal to work with. As someone who has utilized mental health services for most of my life, I know what it feels like to walk into a room and not quite feel seen and I know the difference when you finally find someone who gets it right. Kaneisha gets it right.
She creates space for you to be fully yourself seen, heard, vulnerable, and most of all, authentic. No performance, no filtering, just you. I actually have my daughter to thank for finding her, and that in itself says everything.
What makes Kaneisha truly special is that she will meet you exactly where you are, but she won’t leave you there. She has the rare gift of holding space for your mess while also holding up a mirror so you can see who you’re capable of becoming. She has risen with me through the good, the bad, the really bad, and even the indifference because sometimes, if I’m being honest, I really am the problem, and she’ll help you see that too without making you feel like trash for it.
If you’re ready to do real work with someone who is genuinely invested in your growth, Kaneisha is your person.

I cannot speak highly enough of therapist, Kaneisha Evans. She provided a level of support I haven’t experienced before, and for the first time, I felt truly capable of unpacking the childhood trauma that had been silently shaping my adult life. She didn’t just listen; she provided actionable tools, homework, and exercises that helped me process my emotions, set healthy boundaries, and fundamentally shift how I see myself. I especially value how Ms. Evans incorporated my love for poetry into our sessions, which gave me a creative, safe way to dissect my experiences and heal. I feel like a completely different person, and I am so grateful for her guidance.
— Client
As a black man it was hard for me to admit that I needed therapy or that therapy could actually help me but because I had multiple issues I needed to know why I was the way I was. Grief, death, drugs and alcohol had consumed me until therapy. I cannot identify what was going on with me. I have actively been in therapy for 7 years now and I must say that it’s the best thing that ever happened to me after finding the right therapist because that was important. I was able to break down what was going on with me. I would recommend therapy to anyone. I don’t know what I would do without it. My therapist I believe was God sent.
